As reported in Handelsblatt, Bosch has announced its intention to start series production of stationary fuel cell systems for energy generation in 2024. In this context, the company from Gerlingen also announced on Monday that it will invest a three-digit million amount in the coming years to bring the so-called solid oxide fuel cell to market maturity.

"With stationary fuel cell systems, Bosch is building up a new business field in which development, production, sales and service come from a single source," emphasized the responsible Bosch board of management member Christian Fischer.

This high-temperature fuel cell is regarded as a possible building block for sustainable energy generation in the future and can be used for a networked, decentralized energy supply of cities, factories, data centers or charging stations for electric vehicles, for example.

Bosch has been working on this project for some time with the British listed company Ceres Power, which is mainly responsible for the technological side. The British company's share price rose by almost ten percent to over eleven euros on the Monday after the announcement of the start of series production. The two companies had already joined forces in August 2018. In January, the Swabians had increased their stake in the British fuel cell specialist from 3.9 percent to around 18 percent for 90 million euros.
